Wondering when you need to start taking your baby to the dentist? In this week's Blueberry Med Minute Dr. Garbi shares how pediatricians think about this, and what you should be doing to care for your child's teeth. 🦷 🦷 🦷
Transcript:Welcome back to med minute! Let's talk about brushing teeth for little kids. So when do you start? The best time to start is when you see a tooth coming out so even if it's just one try and get in the habit of brushing teeth ideally twice a day but once a day before bedtime is really the key as to when you want to get in there. You're gonna have to be doing it for your children for quite some time maybe until they're six, seven, eight years old to really ensure that you're getting into those teeth in those tough areas, and should be flossing along with that. Now when to start going to the dentist is also a big question- there's a discrepancy between what dentists and pediatricians say. Dentists say by one year and pediatricians say by three years. I think that you have to know your child, know their development, and see when you think it's best and earlier can be better because then at least you're getting the education that you need in order to know how to care properly for your kids teeth and prevent anything happening later on.
